Like air, it cannot be seen; only its effects are observable. And, like air, it is essential to life. "The righteous man shall live by faith.” (Galatians 3.11; Habakkuk 2.5)
Faith. It's a word often used, and easily misunderstood. It's not general optimism ("just have faith"), but belief with a basis. "without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11.6) It is confidence based on the reality of the existence of Creator God, and His desire to reward sincere seekers.
The greatest benefit of faith is this: "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." (Galatians 3.26-27)
Again, faith is belief with a basis. It is belief that God's requirements are met in His Son, through His sacrifice, and the simple act of water baptism is the faith step to appropriate that for oneself. As such, the believer becomes a literal member of God's family, and recipient of the benefits of inheritance (Galatians 3.29).
Faith is confidence of future hope, but also the mode of operation for believers today. We resolutely believe in the existence of our unseen Creator. We believe He welcomes and rewards those who sincerely seek Him. We trust His guidance through this day's events.
May strong faith guide, reassure, and protect you today, and every day.
