It's never "good bye" for the people of God. We always have the promise of seeing one another later. Powerful proof is found in these words: "But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God:  'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." (Matthew 22.31-32)

When Jesus quoted Exodus 3.6 that day, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had been in their graves for nearly two millennia. And yet, Yahweh God considered Himself to be their God, even though they slept in death. From the perspective of resurrection, He sees them as alive, even while dead. Death is but a brief pause in the great plan of our Creator Father.

Each of us have been, and ultimately will be, robbed of the presence of loved ones through death. But, death is never the final reality for the people of God. Our connections are momentarily put on hold, but they will be resumed in the wonderful age to come. This is our hope and comfort. 

Confidence and hope well up within as we consider the prospects of our promised future. We can live life fearlessly and optimistically today because of tomorrow. And, the day of reunion with sleeping loved ones is just around the corner. So, stay the course, run the race, and finish well. We'll never have cause to regret faithfulness now as we enjoy the future age of bliss.
